Evocation of the book "the Blue Bird" from Maurice Maeterlinck.
The artwork is a reference to the tale "the blue bird" and was commissioned for the Maeterlinck year in commemoration of the centennial of the Nobel Prize in Literature.
A swarm of blue birds rests in a tree nearby the canal. Their reflection in the water adds a dream-like dimension.
The uncluttered lines of these stylized birds echoes the form and simplicity of Origami.
Initially installed during the Licht Festival, the Blue birds have been bought by the City of Ghent to become a permanent art installation. It is now part of the official cultural Maurice Maeterlinck Track of the City.
